Moonshot AI releases Kimi K3 open weights

Moonshot AI published the weights for Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion parameter model, as a 1.56TB download on Hugging Face. The licence is custom rather than open source: Moonshot uses the term "open weight", and Model-as-a-Service businesses above $20 million in annual revenue need a separate agreement. Seven providers already serve it through OpenRouter at roughly Moonshot's own pricing of $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output.

Codeberg bans largely LLM-generated projects

Codeberg will no longer host projects whose code is largely or fully machine-generated by LLMs and other AI tools, after a community vote passed 358 to 144. The announcement cites licence whitewashing, the hardware costs of AI datacentre expansion, and projects that generate excessive code and consume disproportionate CI resources. Enforcement is acknowledged as difficult, since detection is far easier for wholly generated projects than for mixed codebases.
